This large commission Barn Door is a stunner. As you can see from the before photo, this door is not, entirely made of solid wood. The joiner has done a tongue and groove finish on the middle panels which are made of MDF board. The brief from our client, was to give this piece a smooth faux wood finish. We used The Artisan Company’s Tahr Premium Chalk Paint, painting in one direction, creating subtle texture. We then applied Dark Wax over the entire piece and Carbon Black Coloured Wax has been blended through here and there. The cross boards have a deeper finish, to frame the door, giving it more depth and interest. This is an interior door that will make a statement, as it is intended to do.
